Pasadena Memorial's Cassandra Perez tries to outrun a Clear Springs defender during the McDonald's Texas Invitational.

Pasadena Memorial's Cassandra Perez tries to outrun a Clear Springs defender during the McDonald's Texas Invitational. Perez and her teammates have a big task in front of them on Tuesday when Deer Park knocks on the Mavs door. The new year is here, meaning we're about to see which District 22-6A girls roster devoured the most black-eyed peas this weekend.

But first things first. Memorial hosts Deer Park Tuesday night in a contest that will have state playoff implications for sure. Deer Park, because of its past history, will be the favorite. Should history repeat itself, the Lady Deer will have a clear path to a 6-0 Tour I record. Dobie and head coach Jasmine Hartman won't be fretting too much over that 51-40 loss to Deer Park if it can accomplish what the Lady Longhorns are capable of doing. They can finish Tour I with a splendid 5-1 record. Tied with Memorial for second place at the moment, Dobie will be eyeing the construction of a five-game winning streak before the next Deer Park game.

Pasadena's roster consists of Jocelyne Rodriguez, Yesenia Palacios, Alazay Olivares, Angelynn Weaver, Rosalinda Navarro, Amy Escobar, Caryme Molina. Joanny Gutierrez-Pineda, Amy Caballero, Cassandra Cordova and Konstance Mendoza.
