The Malaysian government is in talks with Egypt to facilitate the repatriation of Palestinian refugees currently residing at Wisma Transit Kuala Lumpur (WTKL). Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil confirmed the ongoing discussions involving the Foreign and Defence Ministries, assuring that medical services for the refugees will continue. The statement follows recent unrest at WTKL, where a group of refugees demanded expedited repatriation.
PUTRAJAYA: Discussions on the repatriation of Palestinian refugees living at Wisma Transit Kuala Lumpur to their home country are ongoing, says Fahmi Fadzil.
He said that the unity government takes welfare matters involving Palestinians seriously, especially those brought to Malaysia for medical treatment. The incident occurred at about 5pm on Saturday when a group of Palestinians wanted their repatriation process expedited.This was the second such disturbance after a similar incident in October.
