AKRON, Ohio — A 27-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his dirt bike and crashed just west of downtown, police say.
Police say the man was riding the bike west on West Exchange Street near Bishop Street at about 9:13 p.m. Saturday when he struck a curb and a metal pole, throwing him from the dirt bike. The man, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash, police say, but the crash remains under investigation. The man was not wearing a helmet.
