KualaLumpur Lelaki dijatuhi hukuman penjara 12 tahun dan 10 sebatan oleh Mahkamah Tinggi Kuala Lumpur hari ini kerana memiliki 282.21 gram dadah jenis kanabis dan methamphetamine.
Hakim Datuk Muhammad Jamil Hussin menjatuhkan hukuman itu ke atas M Karunanithi, 49, selepas dia mengaku bersalah memiliki dadah itu di tepi jalan susur masuk Desa Green, Taman Desa, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, pada 3.15 petang, 10 Jun 2019.
Dia didakwa mengikut Seksyen 6 Akta Dadah Berbahaya 1952 yang boleh dihukum mengikut Seksyen 39A akta sama, yang memperuntukkan hukuman penjara seumur hidup atau tidak kurang lima tahun penjara dan maksimum 10 sebatan. Terdahulu, Timbalan Pendakwa Raya S Kirubini berkata, kuantiti dadah yang ada pada tertuduh adalah banyak dan nilai pasarannya sangat tinggi dan itu memainkan peranan penting dalam menjatuhkan hukuman.
