Diamond Sports wants to get out of its broadcast agreement with the Diamondbacks

Arizona Diamondbacks games may not be on Bally Sports for much longer.

PHOENIX — Diamond Sports is seeking to get out of its broadcast agreement with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Diamond Sports has been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in Texas since March. The company said in a financial filing last fall that it had debt of $8.67 billion. Diamond has only made payments to the Rangers. The Guardians and Twins are still awaiting a decision. Diamond Sports said in its latest filing that it loses significant amounts of money under the Diamondbacks agreement and that the deal “no longer fits” within its long-term plans.
