The clips first started to gain momentum earlier this month and typically feature the participant showing off items — ranging from wet floor signs to microscopes and projectors to paper towel holders — they allegedly stole from school. According to a January update to Urban Dictionary, a “lick” refers to “a successful type of theft which results in an acceptable, impressive and rewarding payday for the protagonist.”
“We expect our community to stay safe and create responsibly, and we do not allow content that promotes or enables criminal activities,” a TikTok spokesperson said in a statement to Insider. “We are removing this content and redirecting hashtags and search results to our Community Guidelines to discourage such behaviour.”
