American authorities have joined in the large-scale search for a man, believed to be an Australian, who fell overboard a cruise ship late on Wednesday night.
The man is said to have plummeted from the Quantum of the Seas about 11pm , roughly 1,400 kilometres south of the popular holiday destination.
Search boats and bright lights were used to search for the man, believed to be an Australian, who reportedly fell overboard into the water. Picture: 9News A 2GB listener emailed host Ben Fordham and described the scene as"very dark" and told how guests were shocked when an alarm sounded for a person overboard.
"The ship had a massive spotlight shining on the ocean trying to find what would look like a tiny figure in the water."Quantum of the Seas departed 15 days ago from Brisbane with plenty of Australians on board. It continued its journey several hours later. Picture: 9News
