Former Manly Warringah Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler is seeking compensation from the club for suddenly terminating his contract with 12 months left to run.

Hasler – a former Manly player and icon of the club – finished the 2022 season unceremoniously with the side crashing out of the top eight in the aftermath of the Pride jersey saga.

Hasler’s legal team had been in regular contact with the club to work out a settlement away from the courtroom but those talks broke down leading to the proceedings being filed in August.Just months before Hasler was sacked as head coach, he fronted the media to apologise for the Pride jersey saga which was a turning point in Manly’s season.

Hasler made an emotional apology to the LGBTQ+ community for the mismanagement where players were not consulted about the jersey before it was unveiled.
