Heli had been serving the Derry Township Police Department since 2015.
A Dauphin County K-9 was laid to rest Thursday evening.Heli was a member of the Derry Township Police Department.Officer Andrew Condran, Heli's partner and handler, was planning on retiring him in 2024. But the police dog had medical complications that changed those plans.Many K-9 teams, along with other offices and friends, were in attendance to give Heli one final salute of respect.
The Belgian Malinois started his service with Derry Township in October 2015.He worked on patrol and in narcotics detection. He also provided support and services to the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team.'K9 Heli was a vital part of our department and valued member of our community. K9 Heli has served all of us extremely well and he will be greatly missed,' the police department said in a statement.
