Dr Aamna Adel, a dermatologist based in London, has advised people who suffer with dry lips to avoid using two popular lip balm brands as they can actually make the issue worse

Dermatologist Dr Aamna Adel has called out two skincare products as "overrated", specifically warning those with dry lips to steer clear of them, as they could exacerbate the issue.

Taking to her Instagram handle @dermatologist_adel, which boasts a following of 608,000, she didn't mince words in advising against these products, stating: "I'm not just a hater for no reason." She concluded by saying: "When you keep applying that to your lips they become more irritated, so you feel like you need to apply more and they become more irritated, and then you end up with drier lips".

This discussion comes after Dr Adel highlighted a common misuse of dry shampoo. In an instructional Instagram video, she demonstrated the correct way to apply the product.
