Deputy Inspector-General of Police Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay stated that corruption within the police force, while perpetrated by a small number of individuals, has unfortunately tarnished the reputation of all law enforcers. He expressed regret over this perception, emphasizing that the vast majority of police officers and personnel conduct their duties with integrity and dedication.
Ayob Khan stressed the importance of addressing corruption-related offenses rigorously, regardless of the rank of those involved. He asserted that throughout his tenure as Johor Police Chief, Director of the Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), and Director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID), he had never compromised with officers or personnel involved in such offenses. \In Johor, during his time as Police Chief, Ayob Khan indicated that some officers and personnel faced actions under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma). Similarly, at the NCID, officers with the ranks of superintendent, ASP, and inspector were placed under Special Preventive Measures. He firmly believes that attempts to conceal corruption cases within the force to shield its reputation would only allow these activities to persist and become even more challenging to prevent. \Ayob Khan outlined his uncompromising stance, stating that upon detecting such cases, he initiates a three-step process: referring major cases to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), opening an investigation paper, and starting disciplinary proceedings. He vowed to continue speaking out, reprimanding, and reminding all police officers and personnel about the disgraceful and humiliating nature of corrupt practices. He reaffirmed his commitment to combatting this reprehensible culture, despite attempts by both internal and external parties to portray corruption within the police force as intractable.
