PUTRAJAYA, May 12 — Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin will be undertaking a working visit to Stockholm, Sweden starting today until May 14 to attend the European Union Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum tomorrow.

The Foreign Ministry in a statement today said, hosted by Sweden in its capacity as President of the EU Council, the forum is an initiative of the EU to strengthen cooperation and dialogue between the EU and the Indo-Pacific. “During the forum, the deputy minister is scheduled to participate in the Roundtable session themed: Building More Sustainable and Inclusive Prosperity Together,” the statement read.

At the sidelines of the IPMF, Mohamad is also expected to have an engagement with Sweden’s State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Jan Knutsson, Slovenia’s State Secretary at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Marko Stucin and Secretary-General of the European External Action Service , Stefano Sannino.“The Deputy Foreign Minister’s visit to Sweden will provide an opportunity for Malaysia to further enhance its long-standing bilateral relations with Sweden,” said Wisma Putra.

In 2022, Sweden was Malaysia’s 45th largest trading partner with bilateral trade amounting to RM4.70 billion , an increase of 13.2 per cent compared to 2021. — Bernama
