Delsea sophomore Matthew Littlehales notched his third consecutive Cherokee Challenge victory Saturday in Marlton.
Matthew Littlehales arrived on the scene with the potential to be a standout for the Delsea High boys’ cross-country team.
“It was a good year,” the sophomore said. “I got some records. The whole freshman year, I just stuck in the back during races, and I just out-kicked whoever was in front. I am probably going to try and proceed to do that throughout my sophomore year too. I think it worked pretty well ... stick with them and out-kick them at the end.”
“It feels nice to have won it a few times,” he said. “Today, I used my normal strategy, just stick with first place and out-kick him at the end.”“I was trying not to overexert myself in the race,” he said. “I tried to take it easy. I was a little nervous, because it was the first race. But once that gun got shot, all the nerves went away.”
