Two men were arrested on June 27 for two separate cases of loanshark harassment.
In the first case, the police were alerted to a debtor’s note pasted on the main gate of a flat at Woodlands Ave 5 on June 25.
The note, which was seized as case exhibit, said:"Owe $ pay $. You better come settle. If not, burn your house." Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Woodlands and Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the 40-year-old man and arrested him two days later.In the second case, the police were alerted to a debtor’s note left at the staircase beside a flat at Bedok South Road on June 26 June at 8.25pm.
For first-time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, with imprisonment of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes. 2 men arrested for loanshark harassment after gate of Sengkang flat found secured with additional padlock
