Beginning Tuesday, riders on GO Transit, the UP Express and local 905 transit systems can pay their fare using a debit card on Presto devices.
Transit users across the GTHA can now tap and pay for their ride using a debit or credit card — butBeginning Tuesday, riders on GO Transit, the UP Express and local 905 transit systems can pay their fare using a debit card on Presto devices, following the introduction of credit card payment in August 2022. Riders can also use their smartphone or smartwatch.
All TTC streetcars and buses are now equipped with fare machines that allow riders to pay using credit or debit, confirmed the agency responsible for Presto, but riders will have to hold on a little longer to make use of the convenient payment option. The new machines are expected to be operational by this summer, according to the province. Right now, riders pay with exact change or by tapping a loaded Presto card.
