‘Dear Evan Hansen’ is back in Chicago, with a Chicago actor as Evan. It’s as grueling a role as they say it is.

“Dear Evan Hansen” recently arrived at the Nederlander Theatre in the Loop for a run through the end of December.

For this tour, the title role of Evan is filled by Anthony Norman, an actor from Chicago who had his first professional moments on Chicago-area stages. Norman grew up in the Logan Square area, got a degree in musical theater from Millikin University in Decatur and within months of graduating was already working at the likes of Drury Lane and Porchlight Musical Theatre. But don’t get him wrong, “I still had to build from ground up,” he said, playing in the ensemble, doing the work.
