The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said the national government will digitalize its public procurement process to ensure transparency and generate savings.

In a statement, Budget Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman said the Procurement Service -DBM is currently engaged in the implementation of an extensive reform agenda, focused on the digitalization of procurement procedures.

The department also noted that the procurement process faces challenges such as corruption, confusion in understanding the rules, and limited abilities within government agencies to carry out procurement tasks.As part of its agenda, DBM said the PS-DBM is undertaking an organizational restructuring that involves enhancing human resource development, building capacity, and improving logistics and supply chain management.

She said that by integrating environmentally friendly solutions into the public procurement process, the government aims to advance the goal of sustainable management and utilization of natural resources by 2030.
