Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has been mandated to finalize the Jalan Melayu upgrade project before the commencement of Ramadan in early March. The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), Dr Zaliha Mustafa, personally assessed the project's progress following a visit by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
KUALA LUMPUR : Kuala Lumpur City Hall ( DBKL ) has been given a deadline to complete the Jalan Melayu upgrade project before the start of Ramadan in early March. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa shared on Sunday (Feb 2) that she personally reviewed the project's progress following a recent visit by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
On January 10, the Prime Minister reportedly urged DBKL to conduct on-site inspections of the deteriorated business areas surrounding Jalan Masjid India, highlighting the urgent need for improvements. As a result, DBKL announced that upon completion of the upgrade, the hawker stall areas around Jalan Melayu and Jalan Masjid India will undergo a transformation, featuring a cleaner, more visually appealing, and well-organized design. This initiative aims to revitalize the space and enhance the overall experience for both residents and visitors. Earlier on Sunday morning (Feb 2), Dr Zaliha also officiated the launch of the Bersih-KAL programme and the Zero Waste Campaign at the Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque. – Bernam
