Second-year NTT IndyCar Series driver for Dale Coyne Racing with HMD Motorsports is not under contract for 2024, takes his case to 'home track' at Road America.

He’s driven all 24 of his IndyCar races to date with Dale Coyne Racing with HMD Motorsports, the latter part owned by Malukas’ father, Henry.

“We made a few major changes in the team when it comes to engineering and a couple of new people and new positions ,” Malukas said. “At the start, we still had a very similar setup to what we had last year, and we were able to continue bringing in the good performances. But it kind of seems like as the season went on, it started to catch up to us. We couldn't really find our way and we've kind of started to get into a struggle.

The biggest problems have been qualifying and race pace. In the first seven races this season, Malukas has qualified 20th or worse on the grid for four times, with a season-best qualifying effort of just ninth at Texas. As for race pace, “we are missing quite a lot of game, and we're trying to kind of find it, and click it and bounce back and try to rebound,” Malukas said. “Thankfully, we tested at Road America last week and it was pretty good for us.

“I grew up there at Road America,” Malukas said. “We’ve had a lot of success there and I just love the environment, the people and I feel my performance on-track relates to that.” “I have not reached out to Dale yet on a renewal. But we're kind of in talks with other teams and then kind of being open on that, but nothing is firm.”
