Irish rugby's performance director insists that the winning culture that exists will be built upon
The former Ulster and Ireland out-half came on board three months ago to observe how outgoing performance director David Nucifora steers the ship and to get up to speed.
"Having gone into and through cricket in a pretty short period of time, I had some experience of it but now on reflection, the three months with David has been fantastic in terms of what he's been able to share. Unlike previous strategy plans unveiled by the IRFU, no specific targets have been set by Humphreys and the Union in the one for 2024-28 that was unveiled at the Aviva Stadium today.
Flanked by IRFU CEO Kevin Potts, Humphreys said: "Having sat with you guys during the World Cup and as a supporter, really, over the last three or four years, you certainly have a perception of how good Irish rugby is, the strength and success that they've had. "We're here to continue that. We know that so many of those teams within the system are at very, very different stages of their evolution and what that means is we will be working as quickly as we possibly can with them to address some of the areas.
"We don't need to tell everybody that we want to win and our teams are going out to win. I think in our last plan, we got hung up on lots of numbers and this time it's about setting out the hows and the whats and the outcomes if everything is being done well.
