Davao Region is poised to be the logistics hub of Southern Philippines with the main goal of establishing an intermodal transport system.
“This is a special chapter that we have formulated for Davao Region and this is focused on achieving Davao Region’s vision as the logistics hub of the Southeastern Philippines, resilient, with a rich biodiversity and a haven for human growth and development. This chapter is focused on harnessing the potentials and opportunities of the Davao Gulf,” said Maria Lourdes Lim, regional director of the National Economic and Development Authority on Friday.
To achieve this vision, Lim said the Davao Region shall establish an integrated intermodal transport system while sustaining the development of the region’s infrastructure facilities and logistics. Lim also said that the seven big-ticket projects in Davao Region shall advance the realization of the envisioned integrated intermodal transportation system that will make the Davao Region, particularly the areas along the Davao Gulf and within Metropolitan Davao as the logistics hub alternate to Singapore.
The big ticket projects that shall be implemented to boost integration are Sasa Wharf Rehabilitation Project, Davao International Airport Modernization Project, Davao City Coastal Road Project, Davao City Bypass Road Project, Davao City Expressway Project, Samal Island-Davao City Connector Project, and Mindanao Railway Project: Tagum-Davao-Digos segment.
