Police say the Michigan man killed his wife and dog and injured another daughter before being shot by officers.
Igor Lanis, 53, was killed after he opened fire on police officers who were next door when Lanis exited his house and shot at them. Police were called to the area after a woman called 911 to report being shot by her dad, whom police identified as Lanis. The caller was unable to provide a specific address, but police were able to determine an area where the call came from, which is why they were next door when Lanis began shooting at them.
After police shot Lanis, they discovered his wife and the family dog dead inside the house in the 1200 block of Glenwood Court in, while the caller was found trying to crawl out of the family home. That injured daughter was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.
Lanis’ other daughter, Rebecca Lanis, is speaking out about her father’s mental state in recent years, particularly after the 2020 presidential election. In an interview with The Detroit News, Rebecca Lanis said her father believed in QAnon conspiracy theories involving former President Donald Trump and vaccines.
