Building up resources and new forces against Emperor Palpatine to bring new order to the Empire, Darth Vader is preparing to overthrow his master, just as Sith apprentices are expected to do per the Rule of Two.
Combined with Vader's other allies and new weapons at his disposal, including the elite Rebel cyborgs known as the MAR Corps he's also reprogrammed against their will, Darth Vader's new droid army is quite impressive. However, this is not the first time Vader has tried to create his very own droid army to attack his master. As such, it feels like a potential tie to his past life as Anakin and his natural gift of engineering as seen with his podracer or the protocol droid C-3PO.
Secretly Sourced From Geonosis In the aftermath of A New Hope, Darth Vader's 2015 comic series saw the Dark Lord gathering new forces against his master, much like his latest attempt in the current comics set between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Likewise, this was also Vader's first attempt to forge his own droid army, having stolen a surviving Separatist droid factory from Geonosis.
