The Italians showed another classy performance to stun world number 13, Malaysia with an early penalty corner goal in the ninth minute through Thomas Keenan at the National Hockey Stadium, Bukit Jalil. In the third quarter, a lapse in the Malaysian defence saw Italy netting another two goals through Nunez in the 43rd minute and a direct hit by Francois Sior just before the break .
“I am shocked at what I am seeing today, this is far below the level that these boys can play and they underperformed. Of course Italy have been defending well, there is no doubt What we can do is passing the ball to create the space for chance. Meanwhile, China bounced back from 0-2 down against world number 27, Brazil to secure their first win in the tournament by defeating the Samba Boys 3-2 in another Pool B match.
