GEORGE TOWN: DAP and its candidate Vivian Wong made history by winning the largest majority in Sandakan's electoral history, says party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
He said DAP was shocked by the landslide victory with a majority of 11,521 votes despite the steep 18% drop in voter turnout to 54% this year from 72% last year.
“This victory belongs to the people of Sandakan, and their confidence and support for the political combination of Warisan, DAP and Pakatan Harapan,” he added. “As the Sandakan by-election result proves, the Opposition cannot match Warisan, DAP and Pakatan's combination in stressing moderation and uniting Malaysians to represent all races, religions and localities.
