PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man says DAP wouldn’t need to state in its manifesto its goal of “fighting for Malaysia as a secular country” if the nation were already a secular country.

SHAH ALAM: A PAS leader has scoffed at DAP’s Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng who called for the Islamic party to accept Malaysia as a secular state to garner votes from non-Malays and non-Muslims for the 16th general election . PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said DAP wouldn’t need to state in its manifesto its goal of “fighting for Malaysia as a secular country” if the nation were already a secular country.

“If Malaysia were a secular state, why would DAP need to state in its manifesto that it fights for a secular state? DAP’s manifesto itself confirms that Malaysia isn’t a secular state,” he told a press conference at PAS’s muktamar today. Earlier, Lim gave PAS three suggestions for the Islamic party to win over non-Malay and non-Muslim support for GE16.
