KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 — M. Kulasegaran, Ipoh Barat MP and former human resources minister, reportedly said the arrest of several senior aides at the Human Resources Ministry for alleged corruption had likely wiped out DAP’s image as a clean party that is staunchly against graft.that the scandal was an embarrassment to the party, although he said the current Human Resources Minister, V.
“It’s a shock, and it should not have happened, because my party is very clear on having zero corruption,” the senior DAP leader was quoted as saying. “We have stood up against this matter since our inception in 1966. It has gone to the level where the MACC has gone to the ministry and investigated... obviously, there is no outcome yet.”
The arrests were made just months after the new government took office and amid Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s repeated pledge to lead a corruption-free administration.Sivakumar himself was also called in for questioning, but he told the press after he had his statement recorded that he was at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office only to help the investigation. He has denied any wrongdoing.
