A 64-year-old woman who was visiting Big Bend National Parkafter she collapsed while on a hike on one of its trails, according to the National Park Service.

At around 2:45 p.m., park officials received a call requesting emergency assistance along the Hot Springs Canyon Trail, a 3-mile path that winds through rugged desert and rocky cliffs above the Rio Grande.Park Rangers and a U.S. Border Patrol agent responded shortly afterward and began CPR. A Border Patrol helicopter was also called to provide emergency transportation.They did not release the hiker's name.

Park officials said there is no shade or water along the Hot Springs Canyon Trail and it is often dangerous to attempt in the afternoon.
