After keeping mum since the alleged khalwat controversy was reported last month, Ruhainies issued a statement on her Instagram this morning (April 26).
Customs deputy director-general Datuk Sazali Mohamad said among the breeds to be procured were labradors and German shepherds.
"Drugs brought in via courier services represented 73% of all drugs seized," he told reporters at the Customs headquarters in Kg Jijan near here on Friday ."We currently have 20 dogs but we need more to effectively check the smuggling of drugs into the country," he said. He said these state-of-the-art scanners would also help his officers check the contents of parcels effectively.
Separately, Sazali said his men seized 70kg of illicit drugs worth an estimated RM2.4mil in three operations earlier this month. In another operation on April 18, they seized three packages declared as containing trousers at a courier company in Subang Jaya.
