New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a press conference on Saturday that the number of new coronavirus cases in his state continues to decline, with the daily death toll falling below 100 for the first time since late March.KEY FACTS
Another 84 New Yorkers died from the virus, which is down from 109 deaths the day before. While that number is “still a tragedy, no doubt,” Cuomo said, he called it “overall good news” considering it’s the lowest number of daily deaths since late March. Another two of the state’s regions, Long Island and the mid-Hudson, are set to reopen next week if the number of deaths continue to decline and contact tracing goes online, Cuomo said.
