Chicago Cubs pitcher Kyle Hendricks has officially been activated from the injured list, with infielder Nick Madrigal heading to Iowa.

Hendricks, the last remaining member of the Cubs’ 2016 World Series-winning team, was sidelined in the 2022 season after suffering a capsular tear in his right shoulder, and has been slowly working his way back into shape. After two rough starts at Iowa, Hendricks came back to Chicago for a bullpen session with coaches at Wrigley Field, and he’s been nearly-unstoppable ever since, with 14 strikeouts in 16 innings of work. He’s allowed three earned runs in his last three minor league rehab starts.
