Spirits were anything but low last weekend as hundreds of San Fernando Valley residents came together at California State University, Northridge’s first annual lowrider car show, “Low and Slow @CSUN,” to celebrate a facet of Chicano culture that has thrived for decades.
Kathy Leon and Sandra Cardoza display shirts, jewelry and artwork on sale as part of their booth at CSUN’s lowrider car show on Saturday, June 24, 2023. Leon and Cardoza sold items to the community from their business, Sin Fin Designs. Members of CSUN’s Ballet Folklórico group dance to upbeat music to kick off the university’s first annual lowrider car show on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
“We brought our cars out to help support the show,” participant Angel Sanchez, 22, said. “I grew up in this environment my whole life. I was born into it.”
