A longtime Crown Point High School teacher and chair of the performing arts department was charged Friday for allegedly having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student.
During his interview, Degenhart initially stated he waited until Victim One turned 18 to engage in oral sex and sexual intercourse with her. But when he was later confronted with her statements, Degenhart stated his memory is murky from being 50 years old and doing a lot of disgusting things, and he is “not going to refute what she says,” the affidavit stated.
In early 2020, after winter break, Victim One began to come to school early to see Degenhart and noticed his hugs were become more “handsy,” the affidavit stated.
