Sydney's Crown Casino will reportedly shut one of two VIP gaming floors and sack almost 100 workers due to low visitor numbers.
The decision to consolidate the gaming floors comes one year after the $2.2 billion casino opened its doors in Barangaroo.
“Crown has made a decision to consolidate its two VIP casino floors in Sydney in response to the current macroeconomic challenges facing our industry alongside other Australian businesses,” the spokesperson told the Sydney Morning Herald. The company said some of the 95 workers affected by the job cuts will be given the option to be transferred to Crown's casinos in Perth and Melbourne, or fill other positions available in Sydney.
"Our priority is to support our people through this process, and manage these changes with care and respect.”
