Crosby man sentenced to 45 years for murder after confessing to killing man he owed $1,800 debt
Leonardo Abarca, 27, was sentenced by a Harris County jury after an eight-day trial in which he was convicted of murder for fatally shooting Mustafa Ahmed Marfani, 25, of Humble, on April 7, 2016, the Harris County District Attorney's Office said in a news release Saturday.
Two witnesses told authorities they saw a white truck screeching out of the parking lot they were driving toward. The couple then saw Marfani’s vehicle and found him dead with a gunshot wound to the head, the DA's office said. During the interview, Abarca admitted to meeting Marfani because of the money he owed him. Abarca then"broke down," and told investigators that his"life was over and that he was going to jail for a long time," according to the DA's office release. He was then charged with murder.
