Crocodile Sightings Prompt Cautionary Advisory at Pantai Cermin

A crocodile spotted at Monkey Bay, Pantai Cermin, has led the Negeri Sembilan Wildlife and National Parks Department to urge the public to exercise caution when visiting the area.

The Negeri Sembilan Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) has issued a public advisory urging caution when visiting Pantai Cermin following the reported sighting of a crocodile in the area yesterday. Faizal Izham Pikri, the director of Perhilitan, stated that the department received a public report about a crocodile observed at Monkey Bay, Pantai Cermin, around 4:30 pm. Upon receiving the report, Perhilitan personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Initial investigations confirmed the presence of a crocodile in the sea, estimated to be approximately two meters long. Observations revealed that the reptile was moving within a 50-meter radius and had been frequently sighted in the area since the previous night, becoming more visible during low tide. Pikri explained that the department intends to set up a trap in the mangrove area, as the crocodile appears to move towards the mangroves at night. He emphasized the importance of public safety, advising individuals to avoid provoking the crocodile if encountered and to promptly report any sightings to Negeri Sembilan Perhilitan or the relevant authorities
