A member of a criminal group and six other outlaws were arrested during a police operation in Barangay Diversion in San Leonardo town here at dawn on Friday, March 17.

Colonel Richard Caballero, provincial director of Nueva Ecija Provincial Police, said that at about 12:00 a.m. on Friday, joint elements of San Leonardo Police arrested Reynaldo Bauto Jr during Manhunt Charlie Operation.

Bauto, 30, and a resident of Barangay Tabuating, is a member of the notorious Ortiz Criminal Group, which has been involved in gun-for-hire and similar illegal activities operating in Nueva Ecija and nearby provinces. Bauto has been in hiding for almost four years. He was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder. The court recommended no bail for the accused.

Meanwhile, six other wanted persons were arrested in the same operations conducted by elements of San Antonio PS, Cabanatuan City Police, Gapan City Police and other law enforcement units. The six others were arrested by virtue of warrants of arrest for frustrated murder, violation of R.A. 7610, R.A. 7832, estafa, murder, and qualified theft.
