The New South Wales Premier has told the emergency National Cabinet over the weekend to review the seven-day isolation period and responded to nurses who staged a protest over staffing shortages.
The medical community last week raised reducing the quarantine period from seven to five days to help the struggling economy as thousands of workers are forced to isolate.
"We need to look at it," he told 2GB's Ben Fordham, who asked how much longer residents would have to face one-week of isolation if they get infected. Mr Perrottet was told by health experts that COVID-19 would be around"for another couple of years" and flagged September as a month when isolation requirements could be reduced. Mr Perrottet welcomed the support and backed his own initial comments about the government offering financial support to Fordham.
