PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 543 new Covid-19 infections on Friday (Jan 6), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its KKMNow portal on Saturday that this brings the new total to 5,029,337 cases since the pandemic began.The ministry also said through its KKMNow portal that there were 688 recoveries on Friday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 11,415.

Of the active cases, 94.9% or 10,828 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 4.9% of active cases or 554 individuals need to be hospitalised, with 33 warded in intensive care units throughout the country.
