Covid-19 Watch: 34 new clusters, 17 linked to workplaces

Among them, 17 were workplace-related, 14 in the community, two involving high-risk groups and one involving religious groups.

In his daily Covid-19 statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Malaysia's daily Covid-19 cases saw a slight dip from the 20,000 mark with 19,198 new infections reported on Sunday . The country’s cumulative cases also neared the two-million mark with 1,979,698 infections reported since the pandemic began last year.The figures for other states and territories are Sabah , Kelantan , Penang , Kedah , Perak , Terengganu , Pahang , Kuala Lumpur , Melaka , Negri Sembilan , Perlis , Putrajaya and Labuan .“Another 1.3% or 253 cases are those in Categories 3, 4 and 5,” he said.

A total of 1,298 cases are admitted at the intensive care unit , where 960 were confirmed Covid-19 cases while 338 were suspected and under probe.While the national infectivity rate is at 0.99, eight states recorded a higher R0 of 1.0 and above.Melaka, Kedah, Sabah, Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur recorded R0 below 1.0, while Labuan’s infectivity rate was zero.

Dr Noor Hisham said Malaysia also recorded 20,980 recovered cases in the last 24 hours, slightly higher than new cases.
