PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,636 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (Aug 24), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 4,765,188 since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry's CovidNow portal reported that 2,631 of Wednesday's new Covid-19 cases were locally transmitted while there were five imported infections.
The CovidNow portal reported that 33,500 individuals, or 95.8% of active infections, are observing home quarantine and a further 24 people are seeking treatment at quarantine and treatment centres throughout the country. The ministry's GitHub data repository, meanwhile, reported that there were 11 deaths due to Covid-19 on Wednesday, with five classified as brought-in-dead.
