KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 10 new Covid-19 cases on Friday (April 17), taking the state's total confirmed infections to 397.
State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said seven of the new cases were being treated at the Sarawak General Hospital here, two at Miri Hospital and one at Sibu Hospital.
"Of these total cases, 2,687 have tested negative, while we still have 100 who are waiting for results. To a question about Sarawak's higher fatality rate compared to the national rate, Dr Sim said one explanation was that patients tended to come to hospital"very late and very sick". Dr Sim also said Sarawak was interested in the new antigen rapid test kits which the Health Ministry had ordered from South Korea.
