17,405 new COVID-19 cases today and more than 10,000 are from the Klang Valley. There are now 1,016 cases in ICU with 529 requiring ventilators.

Malaysia has recorded 17,405 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 1,061,476. This is a new record high of new cases reported in a single day since the start of the pandemic. There are 143 new deaths reported today and the death toll is now 8,551.

The Ministry of Health has reported 12,373 new recoveries and a total of 877,812 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 82.70% while the mortality rate is now 0.81%. There are currently 175,113 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 1,016 are in ICU while 529 require respiratory support.

Out of the 17,405 new cases today, 6 are imported while 17,399 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 7,171 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,880 cases, Kedah with 1,112 cases and Sabah with 913 cases.
