Covid-19: New record of 22,242 cases reported on Wednesday (Aug 18)

Malaysia reported a new daily record of 22,242 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (Aug 18), says the Health Ministry. Read more at

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country’s cumulative total of Covid-19 infections has now reached 1,466,512.Sabah was second highest with 2,413 cases, followed by Penang and Kedah .

Cases in other states and territories are as follows: Kuala Lumpur , Johor , Sarawak , Kelantan , Perak , Pahang , Melaka , Negri Sembilan , Terengganu , Perlis , Putrajaya and Labuan .A further 19,680 patients were discharged in the same period, bringing the total recoveries to 1,198,726. There are 254,484 active cases nationwide. Of that number, 1,060 are in intensive care units, just over half of them on ventilators.
