PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s Covid-19 death toll has reached 31,532 after the country reported another 19 fatalities on Sunday (Jan 2).
The Health Ministry’s CovidNow website on Monday showed that of the total, four deaths were classified as brought-in-dead cases.Out of the 19 deaths, five were in Selangor, Terengganu , Johor , Sabah , Kuala Lumpur , Kedah , Kelantan , Melaka and Negri Sembilan .
The number of Covid-19-related deaths in Malaysia have been on a downward trend since August, which averaged about 300 deaths daily. The country now has a cumulative total of 2,755,374 Covid-19 cases, with 2,549 new infections reported on Sunday.Over the past two weeks, active cases have decreased steadily from 52,067 active cases on Dec 20.
Currently, there are 3,469 people hospitalised due to Covid-19 , of which 284 are in intensive care units, 156 of whom require ventilator support. There are 33,393 active cases undergoing home quarantine while 3,460 cases are being isolated at quarantine centres.
