KUCHING: A 69-year-old man is the latest person to succumb to Covid-19 in Sarawak, taking the state's fatalities to 15.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said the patient fell sick on April 3, was admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital here on April 6 and tested positive the following day."The case had no history of contact with other Covid-19-positive cases. In other words, they have not been able to link him with any cluster," Uggah said at the Sarawak disaster management committee's daily Covid-19 briefing here on Tuesday.

He added that 20 more patients had recovered and been discharged from the hospital. The number of people who have been discharged now stands at 88. Uggah also said the committee had decided that shops selling baking ingredients and accessories would be allowed to open twice a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 7am to 7pm.

However, he said the committee was maintaining its decision not to allow laundry outlets, including self-service ones, to operate during the movement control order.
