KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The following is the Sunday (April 5) morning update from the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) Quick Response Team on countering fake news on Covid-19 on social media.
1) Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob denies the authenticity of a video purportedly showing the dire situation at a quarantine centre that is provided by the Sabah state government.
2) The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry denies reports on an increase in domestic violence cases during the movement control order based on a 57 per cent increase in calls to helpline Talian Kasih. The ministry said the higher number of calls include on matters related Covid-19, welfare aid, counselling and others.
3) The Malaysian Islamic Development Department dismissed claims quoting Verse 33 from Surah al-Ahzab that relate to three Covid-19 deaths on April 3 and total of 3,333 positive cases. Jakim says there is no truth whatsoever to the claims.- Bernama
