COVID-19 deaths soar in Florida: New daily high as total fatalities pass 4,000

A record-setting 120 coronavirus fatalities were reported in Florida on Thursday.

While the death toll can fluctuate wildly, Florida has never before reported more than 100 dead in a single day. The previous high, 83, came in late April.The number of people hospitalized also continues to grow. An additional 409 people were hospitalized throughout the state for treatment of COVID-19.

The state does not reveal the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 on any given day, instead only reporting a running total of those who have been hospitalized.Less than 15 percent of beds in intensive care units are empty throughout the state. The state doesn’t report how many of the patients are being treated for COVID-19.
