In a Twitter post, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said cumulatively, the country had recorded 2,476,268 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began. Earlier, the Health Ministry had said through its CovidNow portal that 36 new Covid-19 fatalities were recorded on Sunday , bringing the cumulative death toll to 28,912.
It added that as of Sunday, the number of active cases currently stands at 67,969, with 77.6% or 52,720 being patients with mild infections who are undergoing home quarantine. Another 8,735 or 12.9% patients are those under isolation at low-risk quarantine centres while the number of those being hospitalised are 5,952 or 8.8%. There are currently 236 patients in intensive care units who do not require ventilator support, while another 326 are on ventilators.
