Malaysia records over 22,000 new COVID-19 cases for the 4th day. There are 4,912 COVID-19 deaths recorded in August so far, bringing the death toll close to 14,000.
Malaysia has recorded 22,262 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 1,535,286. There are 223 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 13,936. In August so far, there are 4,912 deaths, which is an average of 233.9 deaths per day.
The Ministry of Health has reported 18,576 new recoveries and a total of 1,260,470 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 82.10% while the mortality rate is now 0.91%. There are currently 260,880 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 1,035 are in ICU while 513 require respiratory support.
Out of the 22,262 new cases today, 40 are imported while 22,222 are transmitted locally. Selangor still tops the list with 7,011 cases, followed by Sabah with 2,651 cases, Sarawak with 1,964 cases, Kedah with 1,880 cases and Johor with 1,558.
